Great memories from 2001. Seemed such a nice bloke as well. Very sad.

Fucking hell.we had some great times with him as manager.remember the roar when he came back early for the roma game.

This really got to me. First manager i actively and regularly watched, brought Gerrard through the ranks, won trophies. That night against Alaves will always be a very dear memory.

This really got to me. First manager i actively and regularly watched, brought Gerrard through the ranks, won trophies. That night against Alaves will always be a very dear memory.

Agreed, I wasn’t a big fan at first as I liked and felt loyalty to Roy Evans but his qualities as a manager and his personality soon changed that. I saw him in that documentary about the title win and you can tell how much he genuinely loved it.

That night against Alaves... massive in the grand scheme of things. Sad loss.

He was manager when I was at that age where I was old enough to start getting into football. I genuinely love the man.
