Re: Porto
Not much to whinge about after that performance . Robertson's crossing was good last night so good that he listened to my advise . Porto started well but once we scored that first goal we settled and they were never going to be able to handle our gegen pressing. They were poor but it still felt like we had another gear to go up.10 days until the next game.. n on

You mentioned the other day Void that Robbo doesn't offer much going forward as say Moreno, which can sometimes be the case. But I don't want our fullbacks to be bombing on too much, we have Mane and Salah for that. I want the full backs attention on defence primarily and if we need to stretch the game they can start wading in, high into the opponents half.

Re: Porto
Up there with the best - the stats
- Liverpool registered the joint-biggest away Champions League knockout win, equalling Bayern Munich's 5-0 win at Sporting Lisbon in February 2009 and Real Madrid's at Schalke in February 2014.
This is Porto's heaviest home European defeat and the first time they have conceded more than three goals in a home European match.
Liverpool are the first English side to score five goals in an away Champions League knockout match.
Mohamed Salah became the first Liverpool player to score 30 goals in all competitions in a single season since Luis Suarez (31) in 2013-14.
Salah has now scored in five consecutive matches in all competitions, the first Reds player to achieve that feat since Divock Origi in December 2016.
Trent Alexander-Arnold became the youngest Liverpool player to feature in a Champions League knockout match, aged 19 years and 130 days.
Alexander-Arnold is the fifth youngest Englishman to feature in a Champions League knockout game, behind only Theo Walcott, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jack Wilshere and Wayne Rooney.
Liverpool have won four matches by five or more goals in all competitions this season, the first time they have achieved that since the 1985-86 season (five victories by that margin).

Re: Porto
I think our fullbacks will always bomb on under Klopp, but I think Robertson has that position nailed down. I suppose when you look at the alternatives, I'm not really saying a great deal there, but a young lad in a huge team in his first European match, and he looked great. Not phased at all. For such a skinny little shit, he looks like he's always up for a fight too. Eight million might look fucking brilliant business in a couple of years, and proof there are still bargains on there.
Is Mane aware that he copies goal celebrations now? He must be. I loved that bit though.
I'd play the same defence, and possible midfield for the next game against them, but 'd certainly leave at least two of the front three on the bench.

Re: Porto
Talking about bargains. Roma will be calling the police soon as 34 mill for Salah looks to be a complete robbery
We all knew we needed a new LB. Then he started playing Moreno. Kind of worked. Then Sevilla....again. Robbo is the answer and we've a good history with Jocks at the club. That fighting spirit. Edit : Charlie Adam lol.
Mane has been copying the celebrations for ages now tbf the mad lad.

MAAAAAAAANEEEEEEEEE!
Re: Porto
Modern fullbacks though tend to be more than just defensive . they are there to stretch play and offer and overlap on the wings . you'll usually find that they tend to either good at the defensive or attacking side but rarely good at both that's why if you find one who can do both you are elected. You mentioned the other day Void that Robbo doesn't offer much going forward as say Moreno, which can sometimes be the case. Though VVD was a monster last night. Just so composed on the ball and some of his long range passing was outstanding and he has now problem coming forward with the ball which changes how teams will have to defend against when they give us the ball night up the field
Mane wasn't that great for a large part of the game last night. Probably up till he scored his 2nd but hopefully that'll relax him a bit now.

One thing that pisses me off is the MOTM awards. Nearly always go to the person that scored the most goals despite their performance.
