Karius

Apparently Klopp said something along the lines of if Karius can play he will now be first choice keeper :icon_uhoh:

Every time he's near the ball I tense up, his nervousness is there for all to see.

We need to buy a quality keeper.

Use some of the money from the Coutinho sale and try and get Jon Oblak in. If not Timo Horn has a 6m release clause if Koln go down.

Just buy a fucking decent keeper.

Oblak has an 80 million release clause. More likely it'll be that Roma keeper.

Karius was Klopps buy. Is German. Hasn't really had a run as 1st choice. Cant see it working out though.

The 24-year-old produced a mixed display at Anfield, having been beating at his near post for Leroy Sane’s equaliser to make it 1-1 but otherwise operating as a solid, front-footed stopper.

And it was clearly enough to convince Klopp he has made the right choice in redefining the pecking order at the back.

Speaking to German outlet DAZN DE after the win, the Liverpool manager confirmed Karius has now moved ahead of Mignolet in his reckoning and he won’t be rotating his keepers any longer.

“He’s the number one, he might make mistakes but this is life,” said Klopp.

“We will not make any changes,” he added – although it’s unclear if that means Karius No.1 for league and Champions League.

“When it comes to goalkeepers you have to make a decision and stick with it. He will stay in goal.

Asked about the conceding of the first goal against City, with Leroy Sane firing past the stopper at his near post, Klopp joked that “People will always find hairs in soup.”

Hmmmm

For all the good Klopp is doing, I'm not sure about this. I hope he's right and Karius steps up well. But hmmmm.

must be another personality issue like with Sakho before. There's no way he's rating Karius more

We should be looking at getting another keeper in. If we had a decent one we'd be quite the force and possibly second right now.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Loris Karius is the club's first-choice goalkeeper but warned he needs to deliver.

Simon Mignolet began the season in goal for Liverpool but has not been named in the Reds' first XI since the club's New Year's Day win over Burnley.

Karius made his first Premier League start of 2018 in Sunday's 4-3 win against Manchester City and Klopp says the number one shirt is his to lose.

"He's the number one now," said Klopp.

"Loris needs to deliver and he knows that."

Karius received some criticism for being beaten at his near post when Leroy Sane made it 1-1 just before half-time on Sunday.

But Klopp stood by the German shot-stopper.

"It is a difficult job being a goalkeeper or centre-half at Liverpool because no-one forgives you one mistake," he said.

"I am fine with our goalkeeper situation. Yes, Loris could have made a save for the first goal against Man City even though I thought it was a world-class finish.

"He is a really good goalkeeper and we brought him in because we wanted him to play."

He's got until the end of the season to prove himself. If not he'll get the chop(hopefully)

Had tears in his eyes on German tv last night when asked about his future

Feel sorry for the bloke really, like I said in the other thread being basically our only keeper at the moment and being in the spotlight is doing him no good at all
