Don't think this is over by a long shot
We could've done with him yesterday tbf, lallana doesn't really bring anything to the team
Tbf I'd prefer him to Lallana as I never understood what was was so great about him at least long plays with passion.

Right now I'd take Long, I'd take anybody who can fit into Klopps style of play...we cannot keep playing without a striker, I cringe brining on Caulker up top.

Long on loan would be ideal but signing him on a 3 or 4 year deal when he'd be right down the pecking order come the summer

You've got to think tek9 is a goner
origi never really looked any good
Sturridge is gone too
Ings and Long would be similar players

Austin for 4 mill would have been better, if it doesn't work out then for that money you wouldn't mind.

And you don't reckon come the summer that we will actually buy a striker of some sort if quality?
Ings if he comes back from his injury I think would potentially be better than long but either way if our main striker next season is either long or Ings then we have a big problem

Agree

I actually think I mentioned this either in this thread or another one . At 4m even if it doesn't work out we'd still probably make a profit on a resale

I don't think we will sign a quality striker
There aren't that many about, fewer that'll come to us especially if we are not in the CL

So Shane Long is the best we can hope for? Is that the level of our ambition?

No, that is the state of modern football unfortunately

Take Hazard for example, hasn't scored all season looks disinterested he'd still going to cost someone €70m +

Shitehawks one and all

While I get what you're saying I just don't think he's a player to improve us. Would be great as cover for a few months while we have players out injuried but not a long term solution ( excuse the pun) and then we're stuck with another player picking up wages that we don't use.
Obviously we don't have unlimited funds like Utd, Chelsea or city where we can afford to splash X amount on players for short term gain so we have to think beyond the short term

If West Ham buy an injury prone striker again, they all need shooting.
