Long story short
I plugged out my router to try it in someone elses house, but when I got there their Internet was down so I didn't need the router

Now I'm home and the router won't even power up
Any ideas??

If they is no power at all, then I would point to the obvious and say the power pack has blown. They cost about a tenner on their own.

Changed the fuse in the plug and it seems to be working

Which one have you got? I had the fat silver on but now it's the long black hd remote
I hate the way when you are inputting digits ie: 4.....0.....1 it cuts to the info channel between numbers, just leave it on the previous channel ffs
