Where do you stand on this subject? I'd guess we all have a similar view on it. I have no problem being respectful to people whatever their situation (religion excepted if they're all in my face about it) but how far is this bullshit going to go?

One of the big problems now is that everything is over analysed thanks to the internet. Every flippant comment, hand gestures, insignificant actions can be posted online almost straight away and people can be outraged by something that's really not there. I just always get the impression that the people who are PC are just trying to make up rules so they feel important, and are then basically waiting for people to fall foul of these 'rules' just so they can pull them up and feel all moral and righteous.

I'll laugh at a racist joke if it's funny. Not because I'm racist but because it struck me as funny. I saw a comedian on Netflix make a joke about dead babies. It was funny and I laughed. Doesn't mean I want to kill babies ffs.

I'm beginning to understand my grandparents better now I'm getting older. The world moves along and changes and it becomes exhausting and pointless trying to keep up.

It's weird how most people we all know would generally agree with us on this yet we are still battered over the head by it daily.

Surely it would be better to allow racists, homophobes etc show that they are those things so they can be dealt with accordingly, rather than try and make them suppress it and hide their true natures?

I think that's why you've got all this antifa/white supremacy shit going on in the states. All these racists have had to repress their (admittedly foul) feelings for so long and now Trump has come along and (unintentionally) given them a sliver of hope, they are practically dancing in the streets. And antifa are no better, trying to fight fascism by, erm, becoming fascists But I digress, the point being that we are free to have whatever opinion we want, no matter how vile or stupid it is. Like Dave said, these PC types do often make fair points but censoring people and forcing people to fall into line is not the way to spread understanding and empathy.
