Which fan film?
Re: Disney Star Wars
Shards of the past it's called. It's better than the last jedi.

Re: Disney Star Wars
Yeah, I don't tend to like the fan stuff.
Re: Disney Star Wars
Yeah I know. I'm the same, I'm not a massive fan of fan made stuff either and I think that vid can be a bit of a tough watch.
Still better than TLJ though, and this total dick move by Disney totally gives us....

Re: Disney Star Wars
Well they did pay 8billion for the copyright tbf
I doubt they are doing this to make money off a shitty YouTube video but rather to protect their property

Re: Disney Star Wars
If they were protecting the property they would have stopped him making it at all. All they are doing is making a greasy buck off someone else's work. Either that or they have done this on purpose so they can let him off later in an attempt to look good and win back some fans.
Meh, I really should stop paying attention to all this, it's all bollocks now.

Re: Disney Star Wars
What’s the back ground here? Did they give him permission to make and publish Star Wars content and are now looking to revoke it?
Film maker will be laughing at the hits piling up either way

Re: Disney Star Wars
Yeah he was up front with them. Told them all his plans. They said it was ok as long as he paid for it himself (no crowd funding) and didn't make any money from it. So he put it out on YouTube without monetizing it, did everything they asked. It got people talking on a positive way. Over 6 million hits on YouTube. So Disney decide to claim copyright on a bit of the imperial march he uses in the film, saying he can leave the video up but it will be monetized and the money goes to them. Even though he paid for it. Yes its their intellectual property but it does no harm to them at all,. If anything it shows love and passion for the franchise. That's the way I understand it anyway.

Re: Disney Star Wars
Lets be honest. Every large corporation would act the same way.
Re: Disney Star Wars
Would they? Actively pissing off large sections of the customer base?

Re: Disney Star Wars
I don't think they are. If you hadn't have pointed this out I would have been unaware of it. They always act like this. Probably done it with other films/TV series, but if we're not fans/mega fans, we don't know or care.
Google for instance have done far worse things.

Re: Disney Star Wars
Well I don't know. But it's still a shit house move. The creator of it will no doubt do ok from the notoriety he is now getting but it's just so grubby and grasping by Disney.
What's the betting a title reveal or something happens in the next day or two to try and distract people.

I don't agree with it, but anywhere around money you'll find the worst type of person.

Re: Disney Star Wars
Yeah I don’t think they are actively seeking to piss off the fan base
There’ll always be certain parts of the fan base who will be pissed off with everything that’ll come now and maybe rightly so. But I think they are starting to listen, the RJ trilogy has been long fingered, some decent tv shows announced, the anthology series long fingered too
and they’ve also stopped referring to Ep9 as the “end of the skywalker saga” a possible hint that we could get an ep X as JJ try’s to undo the TLJ mess
Loads of TLJ cast have already been shit canned

It's so gash
Re: Disney Star Wars
Looks like the claim has been removed. Fair play then. It's a very small gesture but a gesture it is so fair enough.

Like you said though. Looks like a total PR job.
