Shakespeare

Postby VAN HALEN » Sun Aug 08, 2010 8:47 am

When I was at school I read some of his plays. Didn't really understand a lot of it but I knew there was something there as bits of it made my brain cells twist aprt and stomach sink and clench.

Well on iBooks on my phone most of his stuff is there free. So the other week I re-read Hamlet, which I loved at school and was even better now I'm older and wiser.

Also read MacBeth, Much Ado about Nothing and Romeo and Juliet.

Tonight I watched the 1996 film of Romeo and Juliet, the modern take on it with Leo DiCaprio, who I am appreciating more and more.

Its brilliant. Brilliant. The way they do it, the story and words and themes and brutality and comedy and all of it.

Timeless stuff and thats not an overstatement.

And oftentimes excusing of a fault doth make the fault the worse by the excuse.
